Does the shot glass lip plumper really work?

Recently people have started doing something crazy. In order to get fuller looking lips, girls and boys have been suctioning their lips with a shot glass. It is bizarre. Not only does it look ridiculous, but the science behind it is bonkers. Pulling your lips into a vacuum is going to make your lips bigger for all of five seconds. It like thinking that stretching your lips with your hands is going to make them bigger.

But I tried it anyway just to prove my theory.

Here are my lips before:

I then got a shot glass and placed is over my lips and sucked until my lips were pulled into the glass. I kept it on for about 30 seconds and this was the result:

For a full five seconds, my lips looked plumper. Then they went back to their normal shape and I was left with a red ring all around the bottom half of my face.

Come on, guys. Are we really that desperate to have fuller looking lips? Why can’t we be happy with what we’ve got, or use makeup to make them look bigger like everybody else.

Getting punched in the mouth will also make your lips look bigger. Or sticking the suction end of the hoover on them. But we’re not going to start doing those things just for beauty, are we? At least, I hope not…

If you have thin lips and you don’t like them, try the old fashioned techniques. Lip liner, staying away from dark lipsticks, and playing up your eyes. Or learn to love them. The Kylie Jenner phenomenon has made it seem like everyone is obsessed with lips but in the real world, nobody cares. Websites like TMZ just don’t have anything better to write about.

So please, boys and girls, do not think for a second you need to suction a shot glass to your lips. It doesn’t work and you’re beautiful the way you are.

Buffy’s best hairstyles

Over the seven series’ of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy has had a lot of different hairstyles. Some real winners, others…not so much. Below are some of my favourite Buffy ‘dos.

After the dud hair of season 1, Buffy returns to Sunnydale High from her vacation in LA with a cute new cut and some light blonde highlights. Looking pretty good, especially considering she’s still battling her demons (pardon the pun) about her fight with the Master.

Still in season 2, Buffy’s hair looks super hot in episode 16 while she’s trying to seduce Xander. The ash blonde highlights compliment her southern California tan perfectly.

During the Prom episode of Series 3, Buffy looks gorgeous when she finally makes it to her prom. The simple half up/half down look is flattering and simple, yet still elegant.

Season 4, whilst being the worst season, may be the best season in terms of Buffy’s hair. It so long and blonde, completely California Cool. Later on she has long-ish hair but its never as long, or as light. For example, the next hairstyle:

This auburny shade of blonde is gorgeous, and to be fair her hair looks in a much better condition without the bleach. Buffy’s hair is so on point during this episode (the Dracula one).

My last favourite Buffy hairstyle is in Season 6 when she cuts her hair

SUPER CUTE! Just goes to show, the slayer can pull of both long and short hair.

Some honourable mentions must be given to these other character’s styles:

Evil Willow’s black shoulder length bob

And Cordelia’s hair, always.

The Queen of Winged Eyeliner

Since Nicki Minaj’s make-under, she has been sporting some wicked eye-liner. Her makeup artist, Joyce Bonelli, may have been responsible for some more disastrous looks in the past but she really redeemed herself by simplifying Nicki’s look down to one classic, staple feature.

Nicki’s makeup at NYFW was the best eyeliner I’ve ever seen

It’s undeniable, Nicki Minaj is the Queen of the Winged Liner.

Mac Cinderella Collection

Mac is releasing their Cinderella collection to coincide with the movie release in March.

It will consist of:

Two lipsticks. The more pinky nude is Royal Ball and the browner nude is Free as a Butterfly.

Two lipglasses in Happily Ever After and Glass Slipper (almost identical, right?)

One eyeshadow palette:

Two ‘Eye Glosses’ in Lightly Tauped and Pearl Varnish

This is a new type of product, one that I haven’t seen from Mac before. It seems to be one of those sheer ultra glossy cream eyeshadows.

There’s also a line of Fluidline gel liners in two different colours: Little Black Bow and Macrviolet

There are two gorgeous looking powder highlighter in Coupe D’Chic and Mystery Princess

Three pressed pigments (although one is actually glitter!) in Reflects Pearl, Evil Stepmother and Pretty It Up:

The Olive pigment seems a bit incongruous with the rest of the collection but hey, its Mac.

There’s also a mascara and two brushes (boring)

I have to say this is the nicest collection to come out of Mac in a while. The movie doesn’t seem like much to get excited about (Its certainly no ‘Into The Woods’) but at least the makeup is cute. I wonder if any of the normal public will be able to get hold of any of the products before the sell out.
