No, of course it can’t. It’s a nail polish. But it can change colour based on the temperature. What is the point in that you might ask? And the answer is there is no point, but it would be a cool trick to show off at a party.
A couple of brands make this colour-changing nail varnish. There is In the Mood which retails at $8 a pop.
Their nail polishes retail at around $5 each or you can buy a set of 6 for around $18. It’s very gimmicky and they’re probably not the best quality but they’d probably be fun for an evening. Like one evening though. Then it would get super old.
Much like with hair, there is no way to speed up nail growth. It grows at a fixed rate. If you want longer nails, the best thing to do is make them healthy and strong so they don’t break off at short lengths.
Here are some tips for healthy, strong nails:
Iron: iron deficiency can cause poorly hair and nails. Red meat contains iron and also it is rich in protein which is vital for healthy nails.
Almonds also contain a ton of protein along with magnesium which is great for hair and nails. A deficiency in magnesium can cause those pesky nail ridges.
Milk: vitamin D (helps with calcium absorption = healthy nails) and protein.
Biotin. Taking biotin supplements has been proven to improve the condition of nails. It helps develop keratin. Eggs are a great source of both biotin and vitamin D.
Lastly, don’t forget the importance of moisturising. Dry nails are brittle and fragile nails. Don’t forget the cuticles. Dry cuticles can cause hangnails and look ragged.
Split ends cannot be cured. Let’s bust that myth right now. Once your ends are split, you can’t put them back together again. You can only stop them from splitting further. The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them off, which is why some people think cutting your hair causes it to grow faster (another myth).
What all these ‘split end curing’ products actually do is glue the ends back together. This makes it seem like the split ends are gone but the effect only lasts until you next brush your hair.
There are many things you can do, however, to prevent split ends. First of all, don’t brush your hair too much. Be gentle when brushing and always comb wet hair, instead of brushing.
Use a t shirt to dry your hair instead of a towel. T shirts are way more absorbent than towels and they are much more gentle on the hair.
Use deep conditioning treatments on your hair frequently. Keeping your hair in good condition is the most important step in the battle against split ends.
With rumours of a 3rd Sex and the City movie all over the Internet, I thought I’d go through all of my favourite Carrie Bradshaw hair looks. When people think of Carrie, they think of those classic season 1 curls, which are great, but she actually changes her hair up quite a bit over the 6 seasons.
Here’s the classic. Season 1 big curls.
Her hair is a bit longer in season 2, after her heartbreak. It’s sleeker and not a big but she still has her signature curls.
This big bun is super pretty and super chic.
She goes through a phase of straightening her hair and it looks amazing when she wears it all straight and long.
Then she cut it all off and had this fun yet elegant bob.
Finally in the last season she goes darker with just some golden highlights at the front. It’s a much more subtle look to match her European pursuits in Paris
Carrie is a veritable chameleon throughout her time in Manhattan. She stuck to pretty much the same look during the last 2 movies, however, so I wonder if she’ll change it up for movie number 3.
Girls: stop doing crazy diy things to your lips to try and get the Kylie Jenner look! It’s officially been revealed that Kylie had her lips done so no amount of lip liner is going to get you the Kylie Jenner look.
In this clip from KKUTK, Khloe Kardashian reveals that Kylie had her lips ‘plumped’. Then in a later clip, Kylie herself confesses to having fillers.
So now we know. I am very saddened by this news. The fact that a child (she was 16 when her lips tripled in size) would feel that she had to have injections in her lips to achieve a beauty ideal is incredibly disturbing and reflects the pressure on young girls to be sexual objects. Poor Kylie. She was perfect as she was and I hope she will receive nothing but support from the public.
